A Fine French Empire Ormolu or gilded bronze figural tazza with Porphyry bowl. French Empire, circa: 1800-1810. Measuring: 6.5" high. Weight: 8 pounds.
A Fine figural bronze tazza depicting a kneeling winged Cupid holding an arrow in one hand and a Butterfly in his other. He is raised upon an ormolu circular column base mounted on a round Green Verde marble base. Raised upon Cupid's head is a Swedish Porphyry bowl boasting an Acanthus leaf circular mount support.
Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original and in tact.
